1. Bow Headband OR Simply Bowtie

    by Claudia of Espejos Bellos

After seeing so many awesome bowties, bows and headbands, I had to give it a try. I made this tonight and I love it. It is soft, comfy & adorable.

Here’s my quick little crochet pattern to make the headband I made OR you could simply make the bow and use it as a bowtie! :)

    Needed:

    • Some yarn in a color of your choosing (I chose a grey wool)
    • A hook size for a medium size stitch (I used a size I for wool, if using acrylic you may be best off with a H size)
    • A craft needle to weave in ends
    • Scissors

    To make the headband:

Chain 100. Check if this will tie behind your head. If not, add more chains. Double crochet all the way down your chain. Leave a long enough tail to weave in. Cut off the tail and weave it in with your yarn needle.

    To make the bow:

Chain 15. Double crochet all the way down. Turn. Repeat for 3 more rows. 4 Rows total. Leave a long enough tail to weave in. Cut the tail, knot off, weave in with yarn needle.

Easy peasy. But we are NOT done! At this point you will have a small square.

With your fingers squish the middle of the square. Ah, you see where we are going now right?

Take yarn and wrap it around the middle 4-5 times OR more if you like a fat middle like mine.

Don’t cut off or knot off just yet! Take your headband and see where you would like your bow, I wanted mine slightly off center. Take your bow and wrap that yarn around the headband as well a few times. Then cut off, leaving the tail ends long enough to weave in. Knot off and weave in with your yarn needle.

    DONE!

(If you only wanted a bowtie, simply leave off the step of wrapping the yarn around the headband. Once your center of your bow is as thick as you want it, cut off, knot/tie off and weave in the ends with your yarn needle.)
